It can be very satisfying to own your own home. You build equity, you can decorate how you want, you can paint the walls any obnoxious color! However, when something goes wrong it's easy to wish you had a landlord to take care of (and especially pay for) things for you.
We have had such an experience lately. What was supposed to be a simple job to fix our leaking hot water in the bathtub has now become a complete overhaul! Once the plumber got into the wall he realized the drywall was rotting and it just crumbled. Our existing tile is so old no one makes it anymore. Since we hope to be able to sell our townhouse in the next couple of years we decided that replacing just the affected area wouldn't work since those 20 or so tiles wouldn't match the rest of the shower.
Unfortuately, all the work and noise is right next to Lila's room so she hasn't had a decent nap this week! That has been challenging since she can get a little emotional when she doesn't get enough sleep. (Who doesn't, right?) She's a trouper though and we're hanging in there.
On the bright side we get to update our bathroom and make it pretty! We get to take it out of the 70's and bring it into the not-so-70's!

Ah, so true! I'm glad you'll at least get a pretty bathroom out of this!
