Wait and Hope

"Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord." Psalm 27:14

Dedication of a wiggle worm

Father's Day was very special this year. It was Greg's first Father's Day and we had the priviledge and honor of having our precious little girl dedicated.

Now, we knew going into this that an extremely active and wiggly 19 month old and holding said toddler through a dedication in front of our church and family didn't mix well. Although we knew it could be challenging for all involved, having Lila dedicated was important to Greg and I. And what better time to it than when Greg's mom and stepdad, Jim, were here to share this special time? Paul, Nikki, Jim, Anna and Julie's mom, Sandi, were also there to witness this spectical.

Lila was rather impatient with the whole process and really wanted to be put down so she could run around and play. She kept saying "DOWN!" and fussing and writhing when I wouldn't let her get down and run around. She is a strong little girl and I was literally sweating by the time we were done! I tried singing a little bit in her ear and that worked for a few seconds before it got boring for her. When Pastor Greg asked Lila if he could hold her she very clearly and forcefully said "Uhn Uh!" I guess this is why most people dedicate babies when they are itty bitty! A picture is worth a thousand words and the video below is worth a million wiggles! (Her little legs crack me up!)

What is dedication? Dedication is a commitment that Greg and I, our family, and church make to love and raise Lila in a loving environment where Christ is glorified and lived out in front of her. This is in no way a decision FOR her to follow Christ. That is a decision and step that she will need to take on her own when she is old enough to understand that Christ died on the cross as a sacrifice for her sins and the sins of the world.
