Wait and Hope

"Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord." Psalm 27:14

Referral Day, More Info, and What's Next

Friday was such an amazing day. We knew we were going to get “The Call” but we didn’t know what time. We were really hoping it would be early in the day because we were worthless! The call came about 9:50am. I (Julie) was at my desk at work. When I picked up the phone I had butterflies in my tummy and I heard the most beautiful words, “Congratulations! You have a daughter!” I immediately call Greg over and we went into my boss’s office so we could have some privacy and talk to Xia, from our agency on the speaker phone. We got the basic information and asked her to send a photo. We told everyone at work the basics that we knew while we waited for the picture. Once we got the picture of our beautiful Lila (and showed her off a little) we drove to Denver. When we got to CCAI’s office in Denver Xia took us to a room full of tables and other excited parents. Each table had a baby blanket and toy on it. Xia went through Lila’s file with us while Josh (one of the founders of CCAI) took pictures. She also showed us on the map where Guangxi is.

Along with the other two pictures we got of Lila we got other information too. The pictures and medical reports were done on March 28th, 2007 so she was almost 5 months old. At that time she was 13.86 pounds and 24.8 inches long. All of her medical tests are normal and she is on target developmentally. She is closest to her foster mother, she likes toys that make noise, and hide and seek (I wonder if that translates to peed-a-boo). She eats mostly milk and porridge but also eats bread, eggs, and fruit.

We hope to get some updated information (height, weight, pictures) on her in a couple of weeks. We will be traveling in 6-8 weeks. The next step is to wait for travel approval from China. That can take a few weeks to get. After we get that our agency can get us a consulate appointment and work backward from that date to create our itinerary. We already have our next packet of forms we have to get started on including our visa application.
